The Leaden Hour
My day job as a headstone designer inspired this body of work about death and remembrance. In this collection, I ask viewers to look at death and loss directly and to find the beauty in it. Our inevitable mortality can bring dimension and meaning to life itself. Our relationships are made more poignant by the knowledge that we are only human and we will all die someday. This body of work celebrates the people who have come before us and how we choose to keep their memories alive. Using references to Victorian mourning culture combined with rich textures and vibrant colors, I hope these works will remind you that death, while tragic, is also an integral element of the human experience.
Some pieces are available for purchase and prints will be available in my shop soon. I invite you to make my work a part of your world.
